We’ll be cutting and scything this week, as the area between the Gatehouse and the river is very overgrown. Much of the cutting will be mechanised but those with scything skills are welcome to get in some practice. The rest of us will spend the morning raking and removing spoil. Meet as usual at Acle Library at 9.30am, or at the Abbey, NR12 8NJ (grid ref TG381159) at 10am.

Directions to St Benet’s Abbey:
From Horning: A1062.  Just after Ludham Bridge, Dog Inn on Rt. Immediately find and take Hall Rd on Rt.,after about 1mile take a single track signed to St Benet’s. There is a car park at the end on the Lt.
From Acle: A1064, B1152 towards Potter H, A149, turn hard left in Potter on A1062, in Ludham turn Lt just before the church, after 1/2 mile turn Rt into Hall Common Rd, after 1/4 mile turn down track to St Benet’s, car park at the end on Lt.
 
Peter Merfyn of the St Benet’s Archaeological Trust has advised that there’ll be a tour for the public of the site at 2pm, volunteers are welcome to join this.
